47: Expo manicure

Hi Boys and Girls :)

I just wanted to share Expo mani for the Sydney International Spa & Beauty Expo today. I'm super excited as you can see because I've been mentioning it to everyone since Thursday night! I asked my boyfriend what I should do and he came up with an idea for me. He told me to do a white base with purple Konad butterflies. I ended up trying the design. I used 2 coats of OPI's Alpine Snow and topped it off with 1 coat of OPI's Happy Anniversary. Then I stamped a subtle rose design all over my fingers with OPI's Do You Lilac It?. Lastly I finished it with OPI's Purple With A Purpose butterflies and a random clear rhinestone..

To be honest I really didn't like this design and it wasn't very clear. I think my boyfriend picked this becuase he knew it would take me a while (cause I'm such a newb at Konad) to finish so he would be able to spend his free time playing computer games with his friends. Sneaky boy!

In the end I chose to do a simple colour which is China Glaze's Verticle Rush because I didn't want to compromise my nails for any swatching or testing tomorrow!

Konad, CND, Essie, Art Of Beauty (which carry Zoya polishes) and a lot of other companies are going to be at the Expo tomorrow so I'll be sure to pick up a few Essies and Zoyas to try. Also I'm looking forward to finding some good quality powders and nail art. YAYYY!

I'll try to update you girls when I get back :D

46: NOTD

Hi Guys!

I went to nail class yesterday and practiced making 3d flowers. I think I'm finally getting the hang of it now but it's still hard for me to make all the petals even. I made so many weird looking ones.

Anyways I just wanted to post a quick update.

My package from BF-Beauty arrived yesterday! Christmas came early for me and I will be taking some pictures to show you guys what I got. I'm also thinking about getting one of those OPI Train Cases. I found one on ebay but it's around $117USD :( Really expensive no? But I've wanted one since I've been hooked on nail polish and I think it would really help me organize some of me clutter. I have so many polishes and powders and brushes and acrylic paints lying all over my room!

Anyways here's my NOTD. This was 3 coats of CND's Strawberry Daffodil and 1 coat of a Japanese brand glitter nail polish. I made a little white flower with a pink glitter center to go along with the mani and finished it off with 1 coat of CND's Speedey Topcoat..

Also! I'm happy to say that I'm going to the Sydney International Spa & Beauty Expo on Saturday (maybe not Saturday because I might have to work) and Sunday at the Sydney Convention Centre in Darling Harbour! YAY I'm really excited. This is going to be my first time at the Expo. I hope I find a lot of goodies! I'll try to take some pictures for you girls.. if that's allowed :) If there's anything in particular that you want to see or know about just leave me a comment and I'll try to find out for you at the Expo!

PS. Should I do my nails for the Expo? I asked my boyfriend and he said to just paint them a 'cute' pink (whatever that is) because all the people at the Expo are going to be professionals and I shouldn't do my newbie designs for them :/

45: NOTD and marbling

Hi Girlies!

I've been playing with my nails for the past few hours because I have nail class tomorrow and I wanted to come up with a mani to impress my teacher :) I wanted to try a marbling design since I've always loved the look hence my blog name but after a few attempts I was very disappointed with the results. Instead I brought out my Konad kit today and stamped on a few snowflakes. GOSH this took me almost 2 hours to do! I'm such a newb. I know it's 'Summer' now but it's actually Wintertime here in Sydney. Since I grew up in Toronto I've always been acustomed to a white Christmas but since we don't have any snow here in Sydney these Konad snowflakes will have to do..

This is my Konad station. I'm a super lazy bum so I decided to do it all in bed because it's cold right now and I have the padded heater under my sheets.. mmm warm :)

You can't really see the detail but that little rhinestone is heart shaped. I actually messed up the stamping and left a really big gap near the top left corner so I just stuck on a rhinestone.

I used OPI's Purple With A Purpose for the majority of the snowflakes. It's very subtle.

And here is my embarassing marbling attempt. I used OPI's Purple With A Purpose and OPI's Do You Lilac It? . Dabbed it onto my nails and started mixing it up with a bobby pin. Horrible :(

Does anyone have tips on marbling designs?

PS. Euna Lee and Laura Ling are back in America! YAYYY!

44: With love..

Hellooo!

I can't fall asleep for some reason so I was just googling around and found random heart shaped items! Very cute :)

Heart shaped..

Pizza from Papa Johns

Island near Croatia

Watermelon! From a Japanese supermarket :)

Long haired Chihuahua. Look at this angel! He was born with a heart shaped print on his body :D

Speaking of Chihuahuas..

PS. I just read Brooke's blog (www.getchanailsdid.blogspot.com) and her newest post is about Konad! Brooke says that Kathleen from OC Nail Art is giving a 25% discount to all returning customers so be quick and pick up some new Konad stuff before the offer expires :) I think it's time for me to get some new disks!

43: NOTD

Hi Guys!

I'm sorry to say this but I made acrylic bows AGAIN! I really need to get out of this bubble of only making bows and hearts. For this mani I used OPI's Midnight Blue Glitter for a mini gradation effect and just added some rhinestones and acrylic bows..

I have nail class tomorrow so I'm hoping to pick up some new techniques. Are any of you girls going to the Sydney International Spa & Beauty Expo on Aug 8th or 9th? My nail teacher might take me but I'm taking my Australian Citizenship test on Aug 10th so I might skip it and concentrate on that instead. If I do manage to go I'll be sure to take some pictures :)
